1. How to root Samsung Galaxy S Duos?
- Download the 'Kingo Root' application (18 MB) from here : Download
- In case, if you don't have Samsung USB drivers on PC, install them. They're automatically installed when installing Samsung Kies
- On your phone, goto Settings>Development> tick the option USB Debugging
- Connect the phone to PC using USB cable.
- Connect your internet on PC. Kingo Root needs internet for downloading necessary scripts.
- Open Kingo Root. It may show "Device Not Supported Blah Blah Blah". Don't care. Just wait till the app downloads the necessary scripts. Now click the 'Root' button.
- A dialog box will open in the phone prompting a reboot. Click Reboot.
- Congrats! Your phone is rooted!
2. How to install Clock Work Mode Recovery on
Samsung Galaxy S Duos?
Before
proceeding to Custom ROM installation, install CWM Recovery.
- Download ODIN (PC app) from here : Download
- Download Clock Work Mode Recovery from here : Download
- Boot your S Duos into the Download mode by pressing [ Volume down + Menu + power ] buttons at the same time. Release all buttons after vibration. It should now look like this :
- Connect Phone to PC through USB
- Now open ODIN on
PC. When
the connection is established with odin , u will be notified with the
“added” message that will be displayed on the Odin interface, the ID:COM section
should be colored on yellow or blue.
- Click PDA button and select the Clock Work Mode Recovery file (recover.tar file) you just downloaded.
- Click Start. It will take some time. Once finished, your phone will
reboot automatically.
- Done! :)
3. Installing Custom ROM (PMP Ultra)
- Download PMP Ultra v8.5 full
ROM package from here : Download
- Download the update package
from here : Download
- Copy both the files to External
SD card.
- Boot the phone in recovery
mode. To boot in recovery mode, switch off the phone, hold down [Volume
Up+Volume Down+Home+Power] until vibration. Release the buttons after
vibration.
- In the options, wipe data and
then wipe cache. (Use Volume keys for navigation, Power button for back
and Home button for selection.)
- Go to advance settings ->
wipe Delvik cache and then wipe Battey status.
- Go back by pressing power
button. Select "Install zip from SD Card". Select the full ROM
package (430 MB). Installation will begin. Follow onscreen instructions.
- ROM is installed now. To
install the update, reboot the phone again in recovery mode. Recovery mode
should now be available when long pressing the power button. Select
"Install zip from SD Card". Select the update package (35 MB).
After installation, reboot.
